Track your shoes

Most running shoes need replacing somewhere between 500 and 800 km, and worn-out foam is a common cause of new aches. Log your runs and we'll tell you when a pair is wearing out. Everything saves on this device.

Mileage is a guide. Replace a pair sooner if the midsole feels flat, the outsole is worn through, or you start getting new aches.

Questions runners ask

Is SoleMate free?

Yes. The quiz, guides and shoe tracker are free with no sign-up. We may earn a small commission if you buy through our links, which never changes our rankings.

How do you pick the shoes?

Every shoe is scored against your answers: what you use it for, your surfaces and hills, injury history, arch type, gait, and your cushioning, drop, feel and width preferences. Injury factors count more while you're still injured.

Can the right shoe fix my injury?

No shoe can heal an injury on its own, but the right one can take load off the injured area. If pain lasts more than a couple of weeks or changes how you run, see a physio or sports doctor.

Do I really need a stability shoe for flat feet?

Not always. Research suggests comfort is the most reliable guide. Stability shoes are worth trying if your feet roll inward a lot or you get aches in your feet, shins or knees.

How often should I replace running shoes?

Most shoes last 500 to 800 km. Replace them sooner if the midsole feels flat, the outsole is worn through, or you start getting new aches. Our shoe tracker counts the kilometres for you.

Are the prices accurate?

Prices are approximate list prices converted to your currency. Sales, new versions and local pricing vary, so use the Compare prices button to see what stores charge today.
